Refacing Our Currency: Drawing on Dollars
In 2012 Jeremy Hara began “refacing” dollar bills with new faces. He started off with Darth Vader, and then thought about the people he thought should be honored on our money. So next he drew Noam Chomsky and from there he picked numerous Americans that he felt were great. He chose activists, dissidents, artists, writers, directors, actors, musicians, comedians and athletes that he felt better represented America. He particularly liked choosing BIPOC and women as they are unrepresented on our currency.
